Meeting with Veteran from Second World War

There is a special place in my soul for those brave Canadians who put their lives on the line, so that we can be at peace in a democratic society. I spent nine years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, so it is an honour for me to sit down with these brave ones and listen to their stories. I met with 98-year-old Cecil Allen, who was part of the Pictou Highlanders during the Second World War, these days a Truronian … and wouldn’t you know … a fellow New Brunswicker by birth! I spent some time listening to his words of wisdom – particularly his post-war stories as a lineman for Nova Scotia Light and Power. Mr. Allen is a prime example of a war veteran from what we refer to as The Greatest Generation.
