Unveiling of Plaque at the Truro Golf Club

Last night, the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the incredible contributions of the Black community of Truro to the Truro Golf Club. Members of the community were not allowed to play until the 1960s, indeed a sad chapter in history. In spite of this racism many incredible golfers from “the Island” have represented Truro on the national and international stage including Darrell Maxwell, a trailblazer in Nova Scotia golf. Mr. Maxwell was awarded a lifetime membership for his achievements. Congratulations!
